How it began

Step Zero is a startup born from the century-old legacy of Flawa, founded in 1900. While Flawa specialized in cotton wool and wound care, it was a management buyout in 2023 that preserved its expertise in the development of sustainable materials and insoles, leading to the creation of Step Zero.

Today, our 15-member team in Flawil focuses on developing sustainable shoe components for global markets. Combining tradition with innovation, we leverage the deep expertise inherited from Flawa to create cutting-edge solutions. Though a startup, Step Zero is rooted in a rich history, driving forward with a blend of legacy and modern innovation.

Since our foundation, we have leveraged the experience and expertise in production and process engineering at our Flawil facilities. By building on this knowledge, we provide production solutions and operate as an OEM to support the footwear industry and retail.
